American cyclist Chloe Dygert's comeback from a career-threatening injury culminated with a world title in the women's time trial on Thursday. Dygert crashed heavily in the same event at the 2020 worlds in Italy, leaving her with serious injuries to her left leg. She also dealt with illness and other injuries over the past three years, often keeping her off the bike for months at a time. But she stamped herself as the favorite for next year's Paris Olympics by holding off Australia's Grace Brown by six seconds to win the gold medal. Christina Schweinberger of Austria won the bronze medal.

It would be an understatement to say that Brendan Quirk took over a USA Cycling organization in turmoil in December 2021. The national governing body had churned through CEOs, each with their own ideas, every year or two for nearly a decade. But the astute businessman and competitive cyclist has quickly sharpened the focus of USA Cycling, and the fruits of that labor could be seen at the upcoming world championships, next year's Paris Olympics and eventually the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles. Quirk believes the success of elite riders at such marquee events will foster the sport at all levels, from the recreational rider to grassroots racing.

With a huge lead built up over main rival Tadej Pogačar, Vingegaard knew the victory was effectively already his again ahead of the largely ceremonial stage Sunday at the end of the 110th edition of the Tour. Vingegaard drank champagne with his Jumbo-Visma teammates as they lined up together and posed for photos on the way to Paris. It has been a three-week slog over 3,405 kilometers (2,116 miles) with eight mountain stages across five mountain ranges. Vingegaard seized control of the race over two stages in the Alps.

Tadej Pogačar has pipped defending champion Jonas Vingegaard to win the Tour de France penultimate stage but it won’t be enough to stop his great rival winning the race. Vingegaard maintained his lead of 7 1/2 minutes over two-time champion Pogačar and will surely be crowned the Tour winner again after Sunday’s largely ceremonial stage ends on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Pogačar won in 2020 and 2021 and he claimed his second stage win in the 110th edition of cycling’s most famous race.

Matej Mohorič has edged Kasper Asgreen in a photo finish to win the Tour de France’s 19th stage and defending champion Jonas Vingegaard has protected his commanding lead. Mohorič covered his face as he broke down and sobbed with the confirmation that he finished just ahead of his rival for his third ever stage win. Yellow jersey holder Vingegaard finished among his Jumbo-Visma teammates and remains the clear favorite to claim his second Tour victory on Sunday. The Danish rider enjoys a lead of 7 1/2 minutes over two-time champion Tadej Pogačar after taking control of the race in the Alps. Two stages remain including Sunday’s finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
"The officer took a stand and tried to stop you, which was admirable. And you turned your motorcycle at him and accelerated," the judge said.
Another Danish rider took the limelight at the Tour de France as Kasper Asgreen joined an early breakaway and then held on to win the 18th stage in a sprint finish. His countryman Jonas Vingegaard sat comfortably in the main pack as he protected his huge overall lead. The defending champion leads two-time Tour winner Tadej Pogačar of Slovenia by 7 minutes, 35 seconds and Britain’s Adam Yates by 10:45 with Sunday’s finale in Paris getting closer. But this was Asgreen’s day as he beat Dutchman Pascal Eenkhoorn and Norwegian Jonas Abrahamsen in their dash to the line. They clocked the same time of 4 hours, 6 minutes, 48 seconds after holding off a large group of sprinters.

Tour de France overall leader Jonas Vingegaard is calling on fans to behave better at cycling's biggest race after another mass crash marred the 15th stage. The Danish rider says spectators should enjoy the race but "without standing on the road or pouring beers on us." He leads Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia by only 10 seconds with the race about to enter its final week. Several teams joined Vingegaard's call after the accident which didn't trigger any withdrawals.
Jonas Vingegaard has kept intact his 10-second overall lead in the Tour de France as Dutch veteran Wout Poels soloed to victory after a tough trek in the Alps with a mountaintop finish. He took advantage of a short but very steep ascent located just before the final 7-kilometer (4-mile) climb leading to the finish line to move away.
Defending champion Jonas Vingegaard and two-time winner Tadej Pogacar could not separate themselves after a dramatic day for the Tour de France in the Alps. Pogacar and Vingegaard finished second and third respectively at the ski station of Morzine after a fierce fight that concluded a day of attrition in the 14th stage. The pair was well ahead of their struggling overall challengers in the final ascent, the daunting Col de Joux Plane, but allowed stage winner Carlos Rodriguez to come back as the duo waited for an opening to get the biggest bonus at the top of the steep ascent. Vingegaard kept the yellow jersey and increased his lead by a second to 10 seconds.
